Square is a ritual game, requiring four players and an empty room. Make sure the room is cleared out! Leave no unnecessary and unwanted individuals, objects, or animals in the room. Turn off as many light sources as possible EXCEPT for the lights in the empty room. Have all players enter the room, all players must shout their name three times after they enter the room. One player is chosen to be the speaker, NO ONE except the speaker may talk from this point UNLESS given permission. Turn off the lights and close the door. Each player must occupy a corner and face it, only one player per corner. When every corner is occupied the speaker gives the players permission to move clockwise after a count of three. It is said that certain... things can happen during the game. Give it a shot. :)
This game is played after nightfall and there are two possible ways to play it, a simple way and a more complex way. The first method is this: the players are sat in a room with 100 lit candles. Each player takes a turn to tell stories of the supernatural. After each tale, a candle is snuffed, bringing the room closer to total darkness... The second method is similar, but it adds another element. Tests of courage. Also, in this variation, three connected rooms are used instead of one room. At the end room, place 99 lit candles and a small mirror. The mirror should be on a table. The room at the opposite end ( first room) is where the players are to be sat, along with the 100th candle. The center room is to remain EMPTY and UNLIT. After each story told, the player who told the story takes a candle and walks to the room with the other candles and the mirror. There, they will extinguish one of the 99 candles. The player is then to look in the mirror and return to the room with the other players. This continues on until the last player is left with the candle from the story telling room. They are to take the candle and extinguish it infront of the mirror. This game is a method to channel spirits and each story told only gives them more power.
Who knew a short tissue commercial could be so weird and creepy... Legend says that this unsettling commercial is cursed. No matter what the reality of it may be, one thing is clear, this commercial is creepy!!! Here's a link.
くねくね/Kune-kune
On hot days in the Japanese countryside, you might see something wriggling and wriggling and wriggling. You squint and adjust your eyes, looking off into the distance. Sun is too bright, so you cover your eyes. You see it still wriggling. It waves its arms in the air, an unnatural dance. It notices you, staring at you, still wriggling. Maybe you feel compelled to wriggle and dance. As that feeling comes over you, the figure disappears, a shadow vanquished by fleeting daylight.
Tamamo-no-Mae freed?
A little after the sealing stone said to have contained Tamamo-no-Mae started to crack, it started releasing gas. On the day the stone completely shattered, this strange gas formation loomed over head. It looks a lot like a fox doesn't it? I wonder if Tamamo really was freed. Who knows?
Item youkai
There are said to be youkai born from items, over time an item that is neglected or loved greatly may transform. This principle can also apply to pets as well.
Stigmatized properties
These are homes where incidents have happened, like murder, suicide, or hauntings as a result of those things. Realestate agents may often say "there was an accident here." Anyone can infer what they really mean. Suicides and murders as just accidents... There is a site I have found that collects the addresses of these places and chronicles their stories. It's a fascinating read, but I will not link it here. You must find it yourself, if interested. Another thing to note is that agents might hide that a property is stigmatized because it being widely known lowers property value.
Coin-operated-locker babies
Train stations in Japan often have coinlockers, aren't these just convenient and unassuming spots to store your belongings? Well, in the 80s and 90s they were also a convenient dumping ground for unwanted children (alive or dead.)
Fire dragon soba
One I couldn't find much info on, apparently some restaurant somewhere has soba so spicy it can be dangerous!!! Apparently it can cause confusion, temporary blindness and all other kinds of ill effects. I wanna try it!!!
Creation of Inugami (ANIMAL ABUSE, SKIP THIS SECTION IF YOU WANT TO)
The method of creating an Inugami is cruel and torturous. A dog is left secluded, starved. Abused. When the dog is at its most desperate and awful state, the dog is decapitated. The head is buried in a busy street, where people walk over it everyday. This busy street further torments the spirit of this poor animal until the dog has become so angry it has become an onryou. The dog's head is then unburied and baked or dried out and kept in a bowl and now the awful individual must tame the spirit of the dog and make it obey it. If done properly, you have an inugami.
A picture that makes you want to commit suicide?
I am unsure if an image could do that, unless you are already feeling bad. The image is definitely disturbing. It is worth noting that this image is often used as a backdrop for readings of another urban legend (Tomino's Hell) Click the link at your own risk, I am not responsible for your life if this is true!!!!!!!

Old creepy youtube video showing off a channel that supposedly changes more and more and more the more you interact with it. A favorite of mine, just like the red room.
飽きた
This is another ritual, the aim of this ritual is to leave the world and go to another. Are you bored? Are you disgusted? Do you want more? Perhaps you should try this ritual. Procure a 5x5 cm piece of paper, draw a large hexogram on it. Write '飽きた' on it in red ink. Go to sleep holding the paper in your hand or placed under your pillow. When you wake up you should feel a change in the air. If you are successful, you will not have the paper anymore. This ritual's final result is this: you have replaced yourself in another world, erasing them from existance to ensure your life becomes better. I wonder how the other you would have felt about that? Is this tantamount to killing yourself? Is it reprehensible?
神隠し/Kamikakushi
To be spirited away, literally taken by the gods.. A lot of disappearances are referred to as such.
幽霊坂
"Ghost slopes". One particularly infamous one is Horyujji-zaka. Maybe you can see something at one of these? Try your luck, Tokyo alone is said to have seven of them.
蠱毒/KodokuA powerful evil magic conducted with a sealed jar and many insects. The insects fight and kill to eat and survive, all of their fluids and poisons mix and the last remaining bug is said to contain poison so very deadly it can cause an individual instant death. Kodoku has been seen as a motif in various media sources and this practice is still on the modern mind. What would happen if you tried it with animals or people? I wonder, I wonder?
Forest of the Vengeful Ghost
A stump in Kinuta park is said to be cursed. Try touching it!!!!
Sugisawa-mura
A village at the base of a mountain in Aomori that was said to have been home to a terrible tragedy. A man went mad, killed everyone living there and then himself. Sugisawa soon disappeared from official documents as a coverup for this unsightly, terrible incident. The land and ruins are cursed and those who enter there can NEVER leave. They may not even be in our plane anymore.
If you want to discover and explore this village there are three signs that you can use to find it. 1. A sign on the path to the village that reads "To those who enter here... There will be no guarantee for your life." 2. The village's torii still stands. Look for a stone shaped like a skull underneath it. 3. Within the village, there is an old house filled with bloodstains that hint at the tragedies that occured there.
The Colonel's Curse
This one is widely spoken of in sports circles, but rumor has it that long ago in 1985 some players in the Hanshin Tigers angered the spirit of Colonel Sanders when they threw one of the many statues of him into the Doutonbori river. Legend was that they would never win a major game again until the statue was recovered. They never did win a big game until 2023, after the statue's recovery in 2009. It seems like the curse was real.
This is the term used for haunted or otherwise creepy locations in Japan. Offputting as they may be, some of these are major historical areas or otherwise interesting locations. Do not act a fool in these places.
As you can see from the picture, this is a listing for an item of immense power. The listing was mysteriously deleted a day later. I think that bear held too much power and ebay silenced the seller......
Supposedly this painting is SUPER haunted because it was painted with the dude's blood!!! Wonder if that means that my shitty art is gonna be super haunted. We'll see when I die hehehe
This harrowing artifact is not even a bootleg, this is an official release... Perhaps it was meant to warn the audience of the awful nature of episode 2? These lazy eyes of her's stare deeply into your soul. What has she found there? I wonder, I wonder....
